Description
This is a dovecote located approximately 15 meters east of Chirbury Hall, likely built in the 17th century with later repairs. It is constructed of small red bricks in English bond and features a graded slate roof topped with an open-sided lantern and a pointed wooden finial. The dovecote has an octagonal plan, with eaves that slightly project and are supported by moulded corbelling. There are chamfered rectangular windows on the east and west sides, each with a label and open square label stops. On the west side, there is a segmental-headed doorway that contains a plank door with iron strap hinges. Inside, the dovecote is well-preserved, featuring nesting holes and ledges along with a carved central post, which once had a ladder for collecting eggs from the nests. It is also designated as a Scheduled Ancient Monument, County No. 309.
