Description

The Granary is a 17th-century granary, later converted into an office, situated at Hoe Street Farm in Roxwell. It incorporates some earlier timbers in its construction. The building has a render finish over a timber frame and a hipped roof covered in old tiles. The granary is raised on a brick pier, with wooden steps leading to a central 20th-century door set within a lean-to porch. Some 20th-century windows have been inserted between the timber studs.

The interior retains a complete 17th-century floor and wall framing, featuring pegged close studding and passing braces. Two tie beams, which appear to be reused timbers, are braced to the main posts. Three collar trusses, constructed with re-used collars and mortices for queen posts, are present, along with clasped purlins. The structure also includes a full set of halved and pegged common rafters.
