Description

Clottergate is a late 17th century timber-framed building that was partly encased in brick in the early 18th century. The brick casing is made of red brick laid in Flemish bond with blue glazed headers. The building is three bays long and features a central front door, along with a projecting brick string at the first floor level. It has casement windows and a hipped roof that is peg-tiled, with a timber casement eaves cornice and a central red brick chimney stack. The framing is made of oak and the building has a rectangular plan. There is an external inscription panel that reads "1703 FCM".
