Description
The stable and coach house at Hutton House, located 9 meters north of the northwest corner of Hutton House, dates back to the 18th century. It features a timber-framed structure with weatherboarding and a red brick plinth, topped with a peg-tiled roof at the front and a flat tiled roof at the rear. The building has a rectangular plan with a main block and a rear out-shut added to the north. It is two stories tall with an attic.
On the south elevation, the ground floor has a two-leaved boarded door leading to the coach house and a similar single-leaved door for the stable, along with three boarded-over windows. The first floor features a central double casement window with glazing bars, consisting of four panes by three panes. There is also a gable dormer window towards the west end, which has a double casement window with glazing bars, also four by three panes.
The north elevation has a principal block with a slate-roofed weatherboarded out-shut that runs almost the full length of the building. The east end elevation is weatherboarded and includes a boarded door to the stable with an exterior stairway, as well as a boarded door to the out-shut. The west end elevation is also weatherboarded and features a fixed four-pane attic window and a three by two pane casement window in the out-shut.
Inside, the first floor displays primary bracing, some of which is made from oak and includes reused timber, with vee-struts on straight tie-beams. The stable and coach house, along with the rear garden wall and Hutton House, form a group.
