Description

This is a tombstone located 0.90 meters east of the Church of St Mary the Virgin in Brentwood, dating from 1773. Made of limestone, the main inscription commemorates George Gross, with additional inscriptions for his mother, Sarah Gross, who died in 1750, and for George Gross, who died in 1760. The tombstone features a skull and crossed bones in low relief within a scrolled curvilinear head. The rear edges are chamfered. The tombstone measures 0.69 meters in width and stands 1.51 meters above the ground.
