Description

Glanthams Lodge is a house dating from the 18th century, with extensions added in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond and has a roof made of handmade red clay tiles. The building has a double range plan facing northwest, featuring two stacks on the right side and one 19th-century external stack on the left side of the front range.

To the left, there is a two-storey flat-roofed extension, with a single-storey lean-to at the rear of it, and a 20th-century bow window to the left of both. The rear left has an external stack enclosed by a single-storey lean-to, and a 20th-century apsidal conservatory is located at the rear right.

The house is two storeys high. On the ground floor, there are two casement windows with 15 lights, fluted jambs, a shallow canopy supported by brackets, and louvred external shutters. The first floor features three similar casement windows. The central entrance has a six-panel door with a fanlight that includes geometrical tracery. The doorcase has fluted jambs and panelled reveals, topped with an open pediment on brackets adorned with an urn and rosettes.

There are two wrought-iron handrails, each supported by three iron stanchions. A 20th-century metal plate embossed with '1750' is displayed above the doorcase, along with two S-shaped iron tie plates. A firemark featuring a portcullis and fleur-de-lys crest, numbered 27549, is attached to the front elevation to the left of the door. The building has a plain parapet at the front, sides, and back.

On the right elevation, the ground floor includes a 20th-century bow window, while the first floor has a casement similar to those at the front. The front right stack shows tumbled courses at the shoulders. The rear elevation features one similar casement on the first floor, and in the middle, there is a casement with marginal lights and a semicircular head.
