Description
This barn, located 13 metres south-west of Hook End Poultry Farmhouse, dates back to around 1600. It is timber-framed and weatherboarded, with a roof made of corrugated iron and corrugated asbestos. The barn has four bays that are aligned north-south. On the east elevation, there is one plain boarded door, one halved stable door, and two fixed lights. The eastern roof pitch is covered with corrugated iron, while the western pitch is covered with corrugated asbestos.
Inside, the barn features jowled posts and curved braces that are trenched inside heavy studs, all of which are jointed and pegged. The east wallplate has a halved and pegged scarf joint. There are 18th-century bolted knees below the tie-beams, and the roof has clasped purlins with curved wind bracing.
