Brewhouse. C18. Timber-framed and weatherboarded, with some red brick in Flemish bond, roofed with red clay pantiles. Rectangular plan with plain boarded door and one C20 fixed light to N. One slatted window to E. In the middle of the S wall is an original stack; to each side of it the wall is of brick to a height of approx 1.50m, timber-framed and weatherboarded above; this wall extends a short distance round the E and W sides. Hipped roof. Primary straight bracing. Angle ties at the SE and SW corners. INTERIOR: one internal straight tie-beam dovetailed to the E and W wallplates. 4 purlins forming a closed rectangle. Wide wood-burning hearth with 0.23m jambs and high brick arch supported on iron strip. An aperture in the W side indicates the position of the former brewing pan. Round aperture for flue pipe in E side. This building is a rare survival of a type which must have been common.
