Description

Lingwoods Cottage is a house dating from the early 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th century. It is timber framed and plastered, with a roof covered in handmade red plain tiles. The cottage features a three-bay crosswing that is aligned northeast to southwest and was formerly part of Lingwoods, which is located to the northeast. There is a 20th-century internal stack in the southern corner. The building has one storey with attics.

On the southwest elevation, which faces the road, there is a one-window range of early 19th-century sashes with 16 lights. The late 19th-century fretted bargeboards add decorative detail. A 20th-century door is set in a 20th-century lean-to porch on the right side of the building. There is one hipped dormer on the right pitch of the roof. The left return features 19th-century sawtooth patterned pargetting, and there is a gablet hip at the rear. The structure includes jowled posts, chamfered binding beams that are unstopped, and plain joists with a vertical section. Most of the frame is concealed by internal plaster.
