Description
Lower Hall is a house dating from the mid-16th century, with alterations made in the 17th, 18th, and 20th centuries. It is timber framed and plastered, with a roof covered in handmade red clay tiles. The building has two bays facing west and features a 17th-century external stack at the right end, along with a 17th or 18th-century extension at the rear of the left end. The house is two storeys high and has a two-window range of 20th-century casements, as well as a 20th-century door with a bracketed gabled canopy. The roof is half-hipped at the right and rear.
Inside, the structure showcases exposed close studding with curved braces that are trenched to the inside, chamfered beams with step stops, and exposed plain joists of horizontal section. The roof features clasped purlins, and the right bay has been modified to create a central stairway.
