Description

Fountain Terrace is a group of cottages dating from the early 19th century, situated on the south side of Brook Street in Great Bardfield. The cottages are timber-framed with plaster rendering and have roofs covered in red clay pantiles. The north-facing elevation features two chimney stacks on the front slope of the roof and one on the rear. Rear extensions have been added. The cottages are two storeys high and have a varying window arrangement: a two-window range with 20th-century sash windows, a single-window range with early 19th-century sash windows of 16 lights, and another single-window range with 20th-century sash windows. The front features a plain door (at number 2) and a half-glazed door (at number 1), both protected by shallow hoods and simple architraves. The roof is hipped at the left-hand end only.
