Description

The Firs is a house dating to the 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th century. It is timber-framed and has plaster walls, covered by a roof of handmade red clay tiles. The main front faces north and has four bays, with a wing extending from the left end and an internal stack in the rear angle. A two-storey lean-to extension, with a low-pitched slate roof and internal stack, was added in the 19th century to the rear of the right end. The house is two storeys high. The front has a two-window arrangement of early 19th century sash windows, each with 16 lights and some crown glass. A four-panel door, with a simple moulded doorcase and shallow hood, also dates to the early 19th century. The roof is hipped at the right end and half-hipped at the rear.
