Description
Brook House is a house dating to the late 18th century, with extensions added in the 19th and 20th centuries. The house is timber framed and the front is plastered and faced with red brick in a Flemish bond pattern, with a slate roof. It has a double range plan, facing north, with end stacks on the front range. A 19th-century extension recedes at an obtuse angle to the left of the main elevation, and another 19th-century extension is on the right. A single-storey extension from the 20th century is also on the right. The main part of the house has a high-quality brick facade with tuck pointing and gauged brick arches. The ground floor has two early 19th-century sash windows, each containing 20 lights; the first floor has three windows, each containing 12 lights, all with flat arches. A central six-panel door and fanlight featuring cast iron tracery, with a radial design and garlands, is set within a recessed arch. The left extension has a single early 20th-century sash window on the first floor. The right extension has a range of 19th-century sash windows and a six-panel door with a plain light over, set in a moulded architrave.
