Description
King's House is a 17th-century house located on the north side of Brook Street in Great Bardfield. It is timber framed, roughcast rendered, and has a roof made of handmade red clay tiles. The house features three bays facing south with a central chimney stack, creating a symmetrical lobby-entrance plan. There is a single-storey rear extension from the left side that dates to the 19th century. The building has two storeys with attics and includes two late 19th-century splayed bays with sash windows arranged in a pattern of 5-10-5 lights, along with a central half-glazed door, all covered by a tiled hipped canopy. On the first floor, there are three late 19th-century sash windows with 10, 8, and 10 lights, and two 19th-century casements in gabled dormers. The house is listed for its group value.
