Description
The Institute and Museum is a mid to late 19th century building made of buff coloured gault brick. It stands two storeys high and features a five-window range with tall casement windows. The first-storey windows are adorned with stone architraves and a cornice at the impost level. Between the windows, there are pilasters on the piers. A stone cornice runs between the two storeys. The ground storey includes two windows set in recessed brick panels, which have segmental gauged brick arches and keystones. In the centre, there is a six-panel double door with a plain fanlight that has a segmental head, along with a stone architrave featuring a keystone. The building is raised above a moulded stone plinth. The roof is hipped and covered with slate, featuring a modillioned eaves cornice.
