Description

The Congregational Church in Bocking is an early 19th-century building made of buff gault brick. Originally constructed in 1701 for one of the earliest dissenting congregations in the country, it was enlarged in 1808 when the current structure was built. The church has two storeys and features a five-window range with 20th-century fixed lights that have semi-circular heads. There are two doorways set in semi-circular arched recesses. Small wings extend from the north and south ends, each containing a doorway and a semi-circular window above. The roof is hipped and covered with slate, topped by an octagonal glazed lantern that also has glazing bars and a slate roof.
