Description
Nos 3 and 9 on Bank Street are a late 18th century or early 19th century front that likely belongs to a 15th century timber-framed and plastered building. The structure has three storeys and features a four-window range with double-hung sash windows. No 3 has glazing bars in flush cased frames, with moulded architraves and cornices above the first storey windows. No 9 has vertical glazing bars in flush cased frames, with moulded architraves and dentilled cornices supported by console brackets. There is a central covered passageway that includes an 8-panel door and an original moulded ceiling beam. The ground storey contains 20th century shops, and the roofs are covered with slate. Nos 1, 3, 9, and 11 are part of a group with Nos 2 to 8 (even) Rayne Road, the White Hart Hotel, and No 2 Bocking End in Bocking.
