Description

The monument to Johanah Swan is located approximately 5 metres south of the chancel of the parish church in Steeple Bumpstead. This early 18th-century gravestone is made of limestone and features an inscription dedicated to Johanah, the wife of Amos Swan, dated 1704, although part of it is below turf level. The stone is adorned with a scrolled cartouche and two cherubim above, both depicted in high relief.
