Description
Mere Cottage is a 17th-century cottage located on Linnetts Lane in Sturmer. It features a timber frame with plastered walls and a roof covered in 20th-century red clay corrugated tiles. The cottage consists of three bays aligned approximately north to south, with the main entrance located in the middle bay, where there is a chimney stack. An additional short bay was added to the south in the 18th century. The building is single-storey with attics and includes a door in a glazed lean-to porch, along with two casement windows and two more in flat-roofed dormers, all of which are from the 20th century. The chimney has been rebuilt above the roof level. Inside, the axial beam in the bay south of the stack is plain-chamfered with lamb's tongue stops, and the joists are exposed. In the bay north of the stack, the axial beam is boxed in. The cottage also features jowled posts.
