Description

Abbots Farmhouse is a house dating from around 1600, with alterations made in the 19th century. It features a timber frame, is plastered, and has a roof made of handmade red clay tiles and Welsh slate. The building is L-shaped, consisting of a two-bay range that runs approximately east to west, topped with a tiled roof and an axial chimney stack at the eastern end. There is a three-bay crosswing extending to the north, which has a slate roof and an external chimney stack at its northern end. The house faces south.

At the western end, there is a single-storey rear extension with a central chimney stack, dating from the 19th century. Additionally, there is a single-storey lean-to extension with a corrugated iron roof situated between the rear wings. A small flat-roofed single-storey extension to the east was added in the 20th century. The farmhouse has two storeys with an attic.

The entrance features a four-panel door set in a slated gabled porch with shaped bargeboards, which is from the late 19th century. There is one 19th-century casement window on each side of the door, three on the first floor, and one in the attic of the eastern crosswing. A pentice board is present on the western gable. Inside, there is an ovolo-moulded beam with converging stops located to the east of the main chimney stack.
