Description
Roost End Cottage is a small hall house dating from the late 15th century to early 16th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. The building is timber framed, plastered, and has a thatched roof. It is aligned approximately north to south, with a west-facing aspect. There is one axial chimney stack located north of the center and an external chimney stack at the south end. A 20th-century crosswing extends to the north, featuring a chimney stack in its north wall and a roof made of handmade red clay tiles. The main block is a single storey with attics. The entrance has a 4-panel door from the 19th century, and there are five 20th-century casement windows on the ground floor, along with one on the first floor of the crosswing. There are no dormers on the front of the building, and the main chimney has been rebuilt above roof level.
