Description

The White Cottage is a 17th-century timber-framed and plastered cottage located on Church Lane in Bocking. It is believed to have originally served as a cowman's cottage and has undergone alterations and renovations in the 20th century. A gabled wing extends from the north side, featuring jet tying on the first storey and a 20th-century carved bressumer designed in a 17th-century style. The south front showcases 20th-century casement windows with leaded lights and a projecting porch with a swept roof. There is a 17th-century battened door with a four-centered head, likely sourced from another building. The roof is tiled and includes three gabled dormers on the south side. Inside, the cottage retains exposed ceiling beams.
