Description

Borley Lodge is a house dating to the late 16th century, with alterations made in the 18th and 19th centuries. It is constructed of timber framing and plaster, with sections of plastered brick and a grey gault brick front range. The roofs are covered with red plain tiles and are hipped. The house has an L-shaped plan.

The front range has three windows arranged vertically, featuring early 19th-century sash windows with glazing bars. A flat-roofed brick porch with a moulded cornice and recessed semi-circular arch sits beneath. The main facade incorporates brick pilasters and a central projection. A moulded eaves cornice runs along the top of the facade. The chimneys are of grey gault brick, with dentilled caps.

The rear wing represents the earlier section of the house, complete with a parapeted east front. It also contains three windows arranged vertically, with 18th-century sash windows and glazing bars. There is an 18th-century entrance door with a flat canopy supported by brackets, moulded architraves and frieze. The rear wing has red brick chimney stacks.
