Description
Pilgrim Cottage is a pair of cottages that have been combined, dating from the 17th century and later. The building is timber framed, plastered, and thatched, consisting of four bays facing northwest with an axial stack. There is a 20th-century extension at the rear of the right end. The structure is one storey with attics and features four 20th-century casement windows, along with two additional casement windows in eyebrow dormers. A 20th-century tiled gabled porch with a door is located at the front. The roof is half-hipped at both ends. Inside, there is a large wood-burning hearth from the 17th century facing to the right, and in the same bay, there is a chamfered axial beam with lamb's tongue stops and exposed joists of vertical section. This 17th-century core was extended in both directions in the early 19th century to create two cottages, which were later combined. The building is listed for its group value.
