Description

The Barretts is a late 17th-century house located in Howe Street, Finchingfield, and altered in the 20th century. It is timber framed, with plastered walls, a thatched roof, and four bays facing southeast. The house has two axial stacks and a crosswing added in 1934. It has one storey with attics. The front has a four-window range of 20th-century casement windows, with three upper windows in swept dormers. The interior features chamfered axial beams with lamb's tongue stops, exposed vertical-section joists, and two large wood-burning hearths.
