Description
Belbyne Cottage is a house dating from the late 17th century, with alterations made in the 20th century. It features a timber frame with a plastered exterior and a thatched roof. The building has three bays facing southeast, with a central stair bay and an axial stack located at the right end. There are single-storey extensions added to the left and at the rear during the 20th century. The cottage is one storey high with attics, and it includes three 20th-century bow windows and one 20th-century casement window in an eyebrow dormer. The front of the building has a 20th-century door with a large fixed light to the left, set within a lean-to porch. The roof is half-hipped at the left end. Inside, the right bay features a chamfered axial beam with lamb's tongue and notch stops, along with exposed plain joists of vertical section. The mantel beam is also chamfered with plain stops and is inscribed with "R.B. 1749." The left bay contains a chamfered axial beam with run-out stops and primary straight bracing.
