Description
This granary, located approximately 10 metres north of Brent Hall, dates from the 17th century. It features red brick construction in English bond up to the first floor, with the upper storey being timber framed and plastered. The roof is covered with handmade red clay tiles. The building has three bays facing north and is two storeys high. There is a central plain boarded door on the ground floor, with a similar pitching door above it. Each side of the granary has one 19th-century casement window on the ground floor and one 20th-century casement window on the upper floor, with no other windows or doors present. The front has a complete set of original sprockets, and some original sprockets can also be found at the rear. Inside, there are three chamfered transverse beams and plain joists with a vertical section. The structure includes two tiebeams with bolted hanging knees, and a clasped purlin roof with an inserted ridge. The upper storey retains four grain bins.
