Description

1 and 2 Sunnyside is a house that dates back to the early 16th century, with alterations made in the 18th and 20th centuries. It features a timber frame that is plastered and has a roof made of handmade red clay tiles. The building has three bays facing south, with an axial stack located in the right bay and a two-bay crosswing to the right. There is a single-storey extension at the rear with a catslide roof, and a lean-to extension to the right from the 18th century, which has a felted roof. The house is two storeys tall and has a five-window range of 20th-century casements, along with two 20th-century doors. The right crosswing has a jetty at the front that is fully plastered.

Inside, the house has exposed heavy studding, main posts with jowls at the first-floor and tiebeam level, and moulded transverse beams with carved foliate stops. The plain joists are of horizontal section, and there is a large wood-burning hearth that faces to the left. Both the main range and the crosswing have roofs constructed with crownpost construction and axial bracing, which are complete.

The owners have reported that the external plaster was removed around 1945 and was re-plastered around 1979. The moulding of the beams is similar to that found in Street Farmhouse.
