Description
This barn, located approximately 10 metres north of Jenkin's Farm, dates from the late 16th century but is mainly from the early 19th century. The ground floor is constructed of red brick, featuring some early brickwork arranged in a random pattern, while the first floor is weatherboarded. The barn has a slate roof and is arranged in three bays, aligned east to west. There is a midstrey on the south side with a porch opposite on the north side. To the east of the midstrey, there is a timber boarded lean-to roofed with corrugated asbestos, and to the west, a brick lean-to also roofed with corrugated asbestos. Note that later lean-tos attached to the north porch and the west side of the building are not included in this listing. The barn has an oak frame with some reused timbers, featuring bolted knees that connect straight tie beams to unjowled storey posts. It showcases primary braced construction, with face halved and bladed scarfs in the wall plates. The rafters are square section with a clasped side purlin roof, and chiselled carpenters marks can be seen throughout. This barn is included for its group value.
