Cart Lodge/Granary at Jenkins Farm

Cart Lodge/Granary at Jenkins Farm is a structure with origins dating back to the late 16th century, but it was mainly constructed in the late 18th century or early 19th century. The front features a combination of red brick and weatherboarding above, with a weatherboarded section on a brick plinth and a slate roof. The rear elevation showcases unusual random bond brickwork from the late 16th century. The building consists of four bays aligned north-south, with two bays open on the west side and the end bays infilled. It has a primary braced oak frame with chiselled carpenter's marks and a clasped side purlin roof, which has an unusual W formation to the purlins to prevent slippage. There are external open stairs and a ladder leading to the first floor on the south side. Later farm buildings attached to the east are not included in this listing.
