Description

This building is a church hall, dating from around 1620, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. It has a timber frame that is plastered, with a facade made of painted brick in Flemish bond, and is topped with a roof of handmade red plain tiles. The structure features three bays facing south, with an axial stack in the middle bay that creates a lobby entrance. There is an extension at the rear of the left and middle bays, which has a catslide roof. The building is two storeys high and has a two-window range of 20th-century casements, along with a central 20th-century door.

The exterior displays close studding with primary straight bracing. Inside, the right bay contains a chamfered axial beam with lamb's tongue stops, along with moulded joists that have a horizontal section and are also chamfered with lamb's tongue stops. There is a large wood-burning hearth lined with 20th-century brickwork and an original three-plank door leading to a cupboard. The left bay features a chamfered axial beam, with joists that are plastered to the soffits, and a wide wood-burning hearth with a renewed mantel beam. A staircase is located behind the stack. On the first floor, the right room includes an original moulded three-plank door. Above the first floor, there are original chamfered axial beams with lamb's tongue stops, and the roof has original clasped purlins, some of which are re-used smoke-blackened medieval rafters.
