Description

Nos 70 to 74 on High Street is a 16th-century building that features a timber frame and plastered exterior, topped with a hipped red plain tile roof at one end. It stands two storeys tall and has a four-window range of double-hung sash windows. The west end has a painted brick front. Originally, this was two separate structures that jutted out towards the street, and much of the original timber frame is still visible, including some finely moulded bridging joists. The building has a late 19th-century shop front and bay window, along with a modern shop front. At the rear, there are three gabled wings from the 17th century, and an early 19th-century extension with a grey slate roof.
