Description

The Sparrows is a house dating from the 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. It features a timber frame that is plastered and has a roof covered with handmade red clay tiles. The building consists of three bays aligned east-west, with a northern aspect and an axial chimney stack located in the middle bay. In the 19th century, the house was extended at both ends to create a range of cottages, which were later combined into one. The house has two storeys and includes a 20th-century door, a splayed bay of casement windows, and two additional casement windows on the ground floor, along with four more on the first floor, all of which are from the 20th century. The original structure features jowled posts, heavy studding, and plain-chamfered axial beams with lamb's tongue stops.
