Description
The farm complex located to the south of Hayeswood Farm House is a polygonal structure that includes byres, cartlodges, and a pigsty, dated around 1839 as indicated by green glass bottle necks at the entrance gable. The building is constructed of flint with red brick dressings and features green bottle base glass decoration. It has grey slate roofs that are hipped at the yard entrances, along with brick plinths, pilasters, eaves, and openings. This single-storey complex, along with the nearby barn and farmhouse, forms a well-designed group around a central stockyard, which is notable for rarely allowing water to freeze in the drinking troughs. The dovecote, which is listed separately, is part of the complex but is not included in the polygonal design. There are entrances on the east and west sides, with the west entrance located next to the barn. The pigsties, situated opposite the house, feature timber fronts with arched braces at the center. The rear wall of the sty range is offset and has moulded coping, with small Gothic timber doors at both ends for ventilation. This complex is an interesting and attractive example of a small model farm from this period.
