Description
This is a house, now divided into four cottages, dating back to 1585. Originally a timber-framed structure, it was later plastered and has a roof covered with handmade red plain tiles. The building retains a medieval 4-bay plan, with the original floor throughout, jutting out over the street. An original stair tower is located at the rear, and a 17th-century extension was added to the rear of the building. The front has two storeys and a 6-window range of 18th-century sash windows with glazing bars. The cottages at numbers 98 and 104 have 6-panel doors, with the top two panels glazed, while numbers 100 and 102 have 4-panel doors. All entrances are sheltered by flat hoods supported on brackets. The front is distinguished by 18th-century iron railings with returns to each doorway. The roof is hipped at the left-hand end. The building features high-quality timber framing, including stop-chamfered beams and joists, and an arch-braced side-purlin roof.
