Description
The road bridge over the River Pant is an early 19th-century structure, with some alterations made in the 20th century. It is constructed of red brick in English bond and features moulded V copings made of red clay. The bridge is oriented from north-northwest to south-southeast and has two segmental arches that align with the river, which runs from northeast to southwest. There are four buttresses on each side of the bridge.
To the south, there is a long approach ramp, while a shorter ramp is located to the north; both ramps have brick walls on either side that resemble the bridge itself. The bridge was strengthened in the 20th century with concrete arches. Iron ties run through the springs and buttresses, featuring S-plates and cast iron roundels, with one roundel on each side displaying a foliate pattern. Additionally, there is a cast iron oval plate on the east side of the south approach, which is partially embedded in the ground. Some of the copings on the east side of the north approach have been replaced with moulded concrete blocks shaped like V's. On the west side of the south approach, the brick wall has been rebuilt using modern bricks, and the original copings have been replaced.
