Description
Mission Cottage is a house dating from the early 17th century, with alterations made in the 20th century. It features a timber frame, is plastered, and has a thatched roof. The building has four bays facing northeast, with axial stacks located in the second bay from the left end. A 20th-century rear extension has been added. The cottage is one storey high with attics and includes three 20th-century casement windows, plus an additional one in a gabled dormer. There is a 20th-century door set in a thatched gabled porch. Inside, the cottage has jowled posts, straight braces rising at the corners, a face-halved and bladed scarf in the front wallplate, and a clasped purlin roof with arched wind bracing. The two right bays have been used as a Mission Hall in the 20th century, which is open from ground to roof, and the current floor was inserted around 1974.
