Description

These are four attached cottages, dated to the 17th century or earlier, with later alterations. They are timber-framed, with some parts plastered and others brickfaced, and have red plain tiled roofs and six red brick chimney stacks.

The cottages face the road in a front range, running from left to right. Number 5 has a brick facade, with two storeys and a three-window range to the first floor and a two-window range to the ground floor, featuring square leaded casements with two lights. It has a centrally placed vertically boarded door and a chimney stack to the left. Number 6 is plastered and has one storey and attics with two gabled dormers. It features a four-window range to the ground floor with 19th or 20th century iron, small-paned casements. There is a 20th century panelled door with a flat canopy and moulded brackets, and a chimney stack to the right. Number 7 is also plastered and includes a half-hipped crosswing with a gablet to the left. It has one storey and attics, with a four-light window to the gable and three windows to the ground floor, which are mainly 19th or 20th century iron, small-paned casements. A chimney stack is on the right. The right return gable is partly plastered and partly brickfaced, with a vertically boarded door and two small casements. The crosswing has a gabled dormer, one small-paned casement, and a chimney stack to the plastered rear range. Number 8 has a 19th century casement to its gabled dormer and two small-paned casements, with a lean-to addition to the right. It has a plank door with a pentice board over, and chimney stacks to the right and left. All the doors are approached by steps.
