Description

A house dating from circa 1600, with alterations in the 18th and 20th centuries. The building is timber-framed, with plaster infill and a roof of handmade red clay tiles. It has four bays facing southeast, featuring an axial stack positioned one bay from the left end. A one-bay extension was added in the 18th century, with a 20th-century external stack at the rear. The southeast elevation has two 20th-century casement windows on the ground floor. The first floor features one 18th-century wrought iron casement, another with an added fixed light, and one 20th-century casement. A 20th-century glazed door is present. The northwest elevation has three 20th-century casements on the ground floor and two 20th-century casements on the first floor. Also on the first floor are two 18th-century three-light windows each with a wrought iron casement, one 18th-century and one 17th-century. A 20th-century glazed door is also present. The interior displays jowled posts, arched corner bracing trenched inside the studding, and a face-halved and bladed scarf in the front wallplate. The floor has been raised approximately 0.30 metres and includes a chamfered axial beam and plain joists of vertical section. A large wood-burning hearth is present. There are two 17th-century moulded doors, each made of four planks.
