Description
Toft Manor is a house that was formerly the rectory, built in 1844 by S.W. Dawkes for E.A. Powell, who served as rector from 1843 to 1894. The building is constructed of knapped flint with limestone dressings and features plain tiled roofs with patterned ridge tiles. It is two storeys tall with attics and is designed in the Tudor-Gothic style.
The north elevation presents an asymmetric gabled facade with a wing that projects to the east. The staircase hall is advanced from the main range and has a porch on the left side, with a leanto structure in the angle to the right. The gables have parapets, with a cross finial on the staircase projection and bargeboards featuring drop finials on the three gables of the leanto. The main entrance is marked by a two-centred arch and a studded, boarded door. The staircase window contains nine mullioned and transomed lights, and there are three single-light windows on the leanto. The building has an end stack and a ridge stack, both with diagonal shafts.
The interior details are contemporary to the construction and are of high-quality design.
