Description

The Parish Church of St Andrew is a Grade II* listed building, rebuilt in 1863 using old materials while following the original plan, with a north aisle added. The tower was reconstructed in 1894 in memory of E.A. Powell, who served as rector from 1843 to 1892. The church features walls made of field stones with limestone and clunch dressings, topped with tiled roofs.

On the south elevation, the tower has three stages, an embattled parapet, a moulded plinth, and two-stage angle buttresses. The south aisle includes diagonal buttresses and a plain ashlar parapet with a moulded cornice, along with four two-cinquefoil-light windows set in two-centred arches with quatrefoils. The chancel has two similar windows and a priest's door, with parapet gables on both the nave and chancel, each adorned with cross finials.

Inside, the church features a 15th-century nave roof with five bays, moulded tie beams, curved braces to wall posts, and embattled wall plates. There is a piscina with an octofoil drain in the chancel, and the pulpit, reconstructed, has carved linen fold panels from the 16th century. Alabaster figures and fragments are set into the south wall of the chancel, and late 18th-century or early 19th-century glass has been reset in the east window. The church also houses a memorial organ dedicated to the First World War. For additional details on monuments and wall slabs, refer to the Royal Commission on Historical Monuments.
