Description
This is a row of cottages located on Green Lane in Linton. Originally a 16th-century farmhouse, it was converted around 1840 into five separate dwellings, with a 20th-century extension added to the south and rear. The cottages are timber-framed and plastered, with a weather-boarded plinth. The roof is thatched on the left-hand side and pantiled to the south, punctuated by two ridge stacks with rebuilt, grouped shafts. The front features three boarded doors and six horizontal sliding sash windows on the ground floor. There are also four similar dormer windows. A cross beam projecting from No. 15, with a key peg, suggests the possible later insertion of a floor. The property is documented on Millicent’s map and faces the old medieval market place, which was enclosed in 1840. Historical records include a will from Wm. Mallin (1557) and Millicent and Paris Maps (1600).
