Description
The chapel adjoining the almshouses at the east end was built in 1745 and is constructed from local red brick in Flemish bond. It features a plain tiled roof with end parapets that have been repaired and rest on kneelers. The eaves have a deep overhang with a moulded brick cornice supported by large wooden scroll brackets. The chapel is a single storey building set on a plinth. On the north side, three steps with stone treads lead up to a doorway framed by a rebuilt arch. The east end originally had an opening that now contains a modern three-light casement, while the rear wall retains an original three-light cross-frame casement. Inside, there is a segmental plaster ceiling with a wooden cornice.
