Description
Manor Farmhouse is a house with origins in the 17th and 18th centuries, but it was remodeled and extended in 1836, as indicated by a dated brick in the garden wall. The building is mainly constructed of white brick, with part of the side wall rendered. It features a low pitch, hipped slate roof with two internal stacks that are symmetrically placed. The house is double pile and has two storeys with three window bays, the center bay projecting. The windows are hung sashes with sixteen panes. There is a central doorway with a panelled door and a fanlight above.
Inside, two bays of the original 17th-century house remain on the north side of the current structure. The corner posts have jowled heads, and the wall plate and tie beams are partly visible. Adjacent to this house on the south side is a timber-framed range, likely also from the 17th century, with the wall plate and one main post visible at the first floor. There is reset 18th-century raised and fielded panelling on the first floor. A clunch rubblestone with the date 1697 carved into it was found in the plinth of the house and has been reset, making it visible in a ground floor room.
