Description

The Duxford War Memorial is located on the village green in front of St Peter’s Churchyard. It is a 3-meter tall Celtic cross made from Portland stone, set on a tapered shaft that rests on a squat, chamfered, square base. The cross features cable and interlace decoration on the cross head and the upper part of the shaft. The front face of the lower part of the shaft is inscribed with the dates 1914 - 1919, followed by names, and 1939 - 1945, followed by more names. The base bears the inscription "OUR GLORIOUS DEAD/ R. I. P." The memorial lists fifteen names of those who fell in the First World War and nine from the Second World War.
