Description

Forge Cottage is a cottage with origins in the 17th century, which was remodeled in the 18th century and has a modern addition. The building has been renovated and features a timber frame with long straw thatch on the 17th to 18th-century part. It has a ridge stack and is one storey with an attic. There is one modern dormer on the front and three modern casement windows on either side of the baffle entry doorway. The north end includes a modern crosswing. Inside, the center bay was probably originally open to the roof. The end rooms have exposed joists laid flat from the 17th century, while the center room features an exposed 18th-century chamfered ceiling beam.
