Description
No. 6 on Stonebridge Lane is a cottage that has been subdivided into two dwellings. It likely dates from the 18th century but includes timber from an earlier building. The cottage is timber framed, rendered, and features a thatched roof made of combed wheatreed, hipped to the right with a ridge stack. Originally, it had a plan of three bays and consists of one storey with an attic, including one dormer. There are three windows, one of which is a 19th-century horizontal sliding sash. Inside, the timber framing is exposed, showcasing slender timbers and light wall bracing. The inglenook hearth has been restored. The frame in the partition wall between the central room and the end room is substantial, as are the joists over the end bay. The ceiling is supported by a clamp attached to the wall.
