Description
12 and 14 Stonebridge Lane are a row of two cottages, likely built in the 18th century, with a 20th-century addition on the left side. The cottages are timber framed, rendered, and feature a thatched roof made of long straw, along with a grey gault brick ridge stack from the late 18th or early 19th century and a similar stack on the right gable end. They are one storey high with an attic and have two dormers. There are two 20th-century porches at the ground floor; one for No. 14 has a 14th-century two-centred and hollow chamfered outer arch that has been reset. The six windows are irregularly arranged and mostly from the 20th century.
Inside, No. 14 retains its original layout, including a partition wall between the two service rooms in the end bay. The entry leads to a passage with a newel staircase. The interior also features several inserted details, including early 17th-century panelling around the hearth and shaped newel post finials incorporated into the staircase.
