Description
No. 15 Home End is a cottage with origins in the 17th century, featuring restorations and an extension from the 20th century. The building is timber framed and plaster rendered, with the right-hand gable end wall rebuilt in brick when a chimney stack was inserted, likely in the early 18th century. It has a thatched roof made of combed wheatreed, with a side stack located at the rear of the central bay. The cottage has a plan of three bays with a cross-passage at the end of the hall and stands two storeys high, with a cellar in the left-hand bay. The fenestration includes three windows on both the first and ground floors, all of which are from the 20th century. The original doorway to the cross-passage is now sealed, and the current doorway is located on the side. Inside, there is a restored inglenook hearth and inserted 19th-century ceilings in the bedrooms.
