Description
No. 16 Stonebridge Lane is a cottage dated 1735, with the initials "RC" inscribed on the chimney breast in the lobby entry. The cottage was extended by one bay, likely in the late 18th century or early 19th century, and again around 1930 and 1970. It is timber framed, rendered, and features a thatched roof made of reed and straw, with a grey gault brick ridge stack. The building has a lobby entry plan, is one storey high with attics, and includes three dormers. There are four windows in total, two of which are horizontal sliding sashes, while the others are from the 20th century. The interior consists of four bays, including the late 18th-century addition, and the kitchen bay was probably open to the roof. The framing is made of slender scantling, with some timber inserted during 20th-century restorations.
